Location:

The art of building and shooting longbows has been practiced worldwide for thousands of years. Bows have been used for survival, sport, and meditation (Zen Archery). This class is a continuation of these ancient practices. In it you will learn the skills to build a longbow, including: how to choose wood, tools needed and proper use, how to make strings, and final weatherproofing and finishing of your bow. When your bow is ready to shoot, we will spend an afternoon learning “instinctive” shooting techniques.
This class is taught as part of a "village class,” meaning that Bow Making/Archery, Felted Boots, Backpack Basket Making, Leather Shoemaking, Knife Handle Carving, Arrow Making, and Leather Backpack Making are being taught simultaneously in the same space. This allows participants to be exposed to several arts while focusing on one specific skill.
Note: You have the option to add Arrow Making and attend Friday evening as well.
Tuition:
Bow Making and Archery (Sat. and Sun.) - $235 + $65 material fee
Add Arrow Making (Fri., Sat. and Sun.) - $270 +95 materials fee
Ages:
