Create A Home Apothecary 9.14.19

115.00

Join herbalist Nicole Larson in her home apothecary and learn the basic skills needed to create natural medicines for yourself and loved ones. Nicole will demonstrate and discuss the basics of herbal medicine making (infusions, decoctions, tinctures, oxymels, elixirs and salves), including what supplies and tools you’ll need for your apothecary and where to purchase them. She will also lead students on a plant walk to discuss how to properly ID plants for safe use, and to look at some locally growing plants and non-native medicinal plants that you can easily grow yourself. Over the course of the day, Nicole will cover the 20+ top herbs to keep in your apothecary, uses and contraindications of those herbs, the best way to harvest, store and dry herbs that you gather, the best companies to source your dried herbs or medicinal plants to grow in your own garden. There will be an introduction to understanding the energetics and actions of herbs, and how that applies to an individual’s constitution. At the conclusion of class the students will make their own salve to take home and have the option to keep one product from Nicole’s home apothecary (you can read more about her herbal business, Rosehip Botanicals, here).
