NOTE: This summer’s Bowmaking & Archery will be part of the Village Family Camp. To read more & register for that, click here. If you can’t attend the Family Camp but are interested in taking this class in the future, please email us: info@cedarrootschool.org.

The art of building and shooting longbows have been practiced worldwide for thousands of years. Bows have been used for survival, sport, and meditation (Zen Archery). This class is a continuation of these ancient practices. During this class you will learn the skills to build a longbow, including: how to choose wood, tools needed and proper use, how to make strings, and final weatherproofing and finishing of your bow. On the second day, your bow will be ready to shoot and we will spend the afternoon learning 'instinctive' shooting techniques. Please note that this is a "village style" class, meaning that Bow Making, Leather Craft, and Arrow Making are being taught simultaneously in the same space. This allows participants to be exposed to several arts while focusing on one specific skill.
